Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Technician on a fixed-term maternity cover for 12 months. The role supports dispensary and ward-based services to help ensure medicines are supplied safely and efficiently.

You must be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and committed to patient-centred care. The post provides development opportunities within a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Continuing professional development (CPD) encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assess, validate, dispense and, where appropriately qualified, accuracy check prescriptions for inpatients, outpatients and specialist services.
• Maintain accurate electronic medication, dispensing and prescribing records.
• Dispense, check and audit controlled drugs in accordance with legislation and SOPs.
• Support ward-based services by identifying upcoming discharges and promoting use of patients own medicines.
• Provide clear medicines information and counselling to patients, escalating clinical queries appropriately.
• Prioritise workload and support daily coordination of team activity.
• Participate in weekend, Bank Holiday and late-evening rotas as required.

Education

GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician

BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
