Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Pharmacy Technician for fixed-term maternity cover (12 months) to support dispensary and ward-based services within a busy hospital pharmacy. You will deliver safe, patient-centred care and maintain accurate medication records.

You must be a registered Pharmacy Technician with good attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with ability to work safely in a hospital environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing and record-keeping.
• Strong organisational skills and effective communication within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assess, validate, dispense and, where appropriately qualified, accuracy check prescriptions for inpatients, outpatients and specialist services.
• Maintain accurate electronic medication, dispensing and prescribing records.
• Dispense, check and audit controlled drugs in accordance with legislation and SOPs.
• Support ward-based services by identifying upcoming discharges and reducing medicines waste.
• Provide medicines information and counselling to patients, escalating complex queries.
• Prioritise workload and support daily team activity coordination.
• Participate in weekend, Bank Holiday and late-evening rotas as required.
