Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a Primary Care Nurse to join the HMP Risley healthcare team. You will be working in a 24-strong unit within a Category C prison near Warrington, delivering nurse-led care and wing-based work as required.

The role offers bespoke induction, CPD opportunities, and regional development within a supportive MDT. NMC-registered adult nurses eligible to work in the UK are invited to apply.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse – Adult with NMC registration.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Experience collaborating within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency settings.
• Non-judgemental and compassionate approach.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a nurse-led service within a multi-disciplinary team to prevent hospital admissions.
• Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, respond to emergencies, assess patients, and conduct reception screening.
• Deliver nurse-led clinics for your patient group with MDT support.
• Provide evidence-based care, listen to feedback, and personalise care accordingly.
• Promote best practice, clinical supervision, and continuous quality improvement.
• Share knowledge and skills to ensure safe care and strong teamwork.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care Team at HMP Risley, a category C Prison located in Warrington.

HMP Risley is a male prison that has a population of 1000.

As a Primary Care Nurse, you will work as part of a team of 24 based within the healthcare department and some wing work required.

Hours

• Monday - Sunday service
• 37.5 hours per week
• 7.30am - 8.45pm
• Potentially night shifts will be required
• 12 week rota

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing

As a Primary Care Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions
• Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
• Use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
• Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
• Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
• Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
• Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
• Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams.
