Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Healthcare Assistant to support a GP practice in Barnstaple. The role suits a proactive HCA who can assist the clinical team with routine procedures, patient assessments and day-to-day treatment room activity.

You will be part of an organised primary care environment where you will help manage patient flow, assist with core clinical duties and contribute to high-quality care delivery.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or NHS.
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Comfortable performing clinical observations.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform observations (BP, pulse, temp, O2).
• Support treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling if trained.
• Complete ECGs and assist with patient assessments.
• Provide lifestyle advice and health promotion.
• Update patient records in the clinical system.
• Assist clinicians with routine tasks.
