Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a proactive Locum Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support a GP practice in Exeter. You will assist with routine clinical duties, patient assessments, and day-to-day treatment room activity, contributing to high-quality care delivery in a structured primary care setting.

Responsibilities include taking observations, supporting treatment room procedures, phlebotomy (if trained), ECGs, and accurate documentation in the clinical system.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or the NHS.
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.
• Enhanced DBS

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation.
• Supporting with treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments.
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion.
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required.
