Job summary

The Emerald Group seeks a Pricing Manager to join the Pricing Technical Modelling Team. Halifax or Reading (Home Based) candidates are invited to apply for a permanent role leading pricing analytics and modelling efforts.

You will work with senior stakeholders to implement changes, develop a pricing team, and establish governance for robust controls. A numerical degree and ML expertise are highly valued for profitable motor and home insurance pricing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 bachelor's degree in a numerical discipline (or equivalent)
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Expert understanding of predictive modelling and ML techniques for motor and home insurance
• Experience with pricing and data-driven decision making (advantageous: project management)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Senior Pricing Manager and senior stakeholders to implement modelling and rating changes that enhance loss ratio, risk selection, and business growth.
• Lead and develop a diverse team of pricing specialists within the Technical Pricing Department, ensuring capability progression, alignment with company values, and a culture of continuous improvement and agility.
• Strengthen pricing capabilities by establishing best-practice methodologies, governance frameworks, and robust controls.
• Leverage internal and external datasets - including broker-specific data - to enhance predictive pricing models and support profit and growth objectives.

Key Duties (Including but not limited to):

• Collaborate with the Senior Pricing Manager and senior stakeholders to implement modelling and rating changes that enhance loss ratio, risk selection, and business growth.
• Lead and develop a diverse team of pricing specialists within the Technical Pricing Department, ensuring capability progression, alignment with company values, and a culture of continuous improvement and agility.
• Strengthen pricing capabilities by establishing best-practice methodologies, governance frameworks, and robust controls.
• Leverage internal and external datasets - including broker-specific data - to enhance predictive pricing models and support profit and growth objectives.
• Holds a minimum 2:1 bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a numerical discipline, or equivalent experience; brings project-management skills (advantageous) and a commitment to continuous learning in analytics, data science, AI, and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrates excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Possesses expert understanding of predictive modelling and machine learning techniques relevant to technical rating for motor and home insurance products.
