Job summary

Harnham is seeking a Data Scientist to join a growing insurance analytics team in Manchester. You’ll tackle pricing challenges, build production-ready machine learning models, and work on projects that directly influence commercial outcomes.

You will use Python, SQL, Databricks and PySpark to analyze large datasets, own projects from definition through implementation, present insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and mentor junior data scientists.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial data science experience.
• Advanced Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with Databricks and PySpark.
• Knowledge of ML techniques such as XGBoost and LightGBM.
• Strong statistical modelling capability.
• Experience in insurance or regulated environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build, validate and deploy ML and statistical models.
• Analyse large datasets with Python, SQL, Databricks and PySpark.
• Solve pricing and risk-related business challenges.
• Explore new data sources and test innovative ideas.
