Job summary

Protect Group is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead pricing and machine learning initiatives in a hybrid Leeds setup. You will design dynamic pricing models, run experiments and push models into production, while partnering with commercial, finance and product teams.

You’ll work on risk modelling, agentic AI systems for refunds, and advanced experimentation, using Python, SQL and Azure ML in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• At least five years in data science or machine learning with production models.
• Experience in insurance, protection, travel, fintech or transaction-led industries.
• Strong hands-on experience building pricing, revenue optimisation or commercially focused models.
• Expert Python skills with production-quality code, testing and reviews; strong SQL.

Responsibilities

• Own the development and continuous improvement of production pricing models.
• Turn pricing opportunities into testable hypotheses and production changes.
• Evaluate pricing performance via backtesting, online testing and commercial metrics.
• Develop Bayesian, multi-armed bandit and other optimisation approaches for dynamic pricing.
• Collaborate with commercial, finance and product teams to translate performance into actions.
• Build risk models and agentic systems to improve pricing, refunds or efficiency.
• Ensure rigorous offline/online evaluation and reproducible training pipelines.
• Raise technical standards through code reviews and reusable patterns.
