Position Overview:
As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work in conjunction with the controller to maximise the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. You will identify possible issues that may impact availability and carry out minor repairs as requested. You will also serve as an ambassador for safety, ensuring the servicing promotes safety for yourself and the customer.

Major Job Functions
  • Preventative Maintenance Servicing (routine servicing, oil samples) - 75%
  • Machine Inspection (visual/mechanical analysis, highlighting issues) - 20%
  • Minor Repairs (minor repairs, telematic systems, undercarriage inspections) - 5%

*This is a field-based role. All drivers must hold a full driving license for 2 years (DVLA check required).

*Working hours: 43 hours/week, flexible start/end times, Monday-Friday, with 1 Saturday in 3 at overtime rate.

Specific Skills

Basic knowledge of Engines, Hydraulics, Powertrain, and Vehicle Electrics/Electronics related to servicing and heavy mobile plant repair.

Accountability

Attend customer sites, perform preventative maintenance, liaise with service controller and customer, ensure high standards and safety, complete paperwork accurately, and maintain company vehicle and equipment.

Education and Experience

Approximately 3 years of relevant experience or related engineering work (e.g., car mechanic, HGV fitter, agricultural engineer, REME, military vehicles), or formal apprenticeship with C&G Level 1. Health & Safety training is desirable but not essential; further training provided.
