Job summary

MET Recruitment UK LTD in Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced Press Operator to set up, operate, and maintain a range of mechanical and hydraulic presses, ensuring production targets and high quality standards.

You will work afternoons, read engineering drawings, perform quality checks, and maintain a safe working environment with a focus on continuous improvement and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience with progression and/or mechanical presses.
• Understanding of manufacturing health & safety.
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate progression, heavy manual, and light guard presses.
• Monitor machine performance and maintain optimal output.
• Carry out regular quality checks and report defects.
• Read and follow engineering drawings, SOPs, and control plans.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment (5S).
• Accurately record production output, downtime, and scrap.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Press Operator to set up, operate, and maintain a range of mechanical and hydraulic presses. This role is key to ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate progression, heavy manual, and light guard presses
• Monitor machine performance and maintain optimal output
• Carry out regular quality checks and report defects
• Read and follow engineering drawings, SOPs, and control plans
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment (5S)
• Accurately record production output, downtime, and scrap

Skills & Experience:

• Experience with progression and/or mechanical presses
• Understanding of manufacturing health & safety
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings
• Strong attention to detail and quality

Desirable:

• Experience with coil-fed tooling
• Basic mechanical or maintenance skills

Working Hours:

Afternoons are 14:00-10:30pm Mon-Thursday and Friday 12:30-17:30pm

Overtime may be required depending on production demands
