Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Premises Officer to support the University of Chester campuses in Chester and surrounding areas. You will maintain buildings, coordinate with the Site Supervisor and Helpdesk, and work flexibly to ensure smooth FM operations.

You will be part of a team of engineers on campus, focusing on building fabric maintenance, safety compliance, and proactive energy management while handling paperwork accurately and maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• Trade-based City & Guilds Level II/III or equivalent.
• Experience in building fabric maintenance for commercial and domestic buildings.
• Experience in mobile service delivery contracts.
• Knowledge of SLAs, service targets and KPIs.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
• Strong customer care focus and communication skills.
• Proactive and able to diagnose and repair faults.
• Ability to complete essential paperwork accurately.
• Full UK Driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and emergency maintenance tasks and complete related paperwork.
• Be on a call-out rota to provide out-of-hours cover.
• Assist other team members as directed by Contracts Manager.
• Ensure tasks are completed within contractual timescales.
• Proactively reduce energy consumption on site.
• Oversee visiting subcontractors for work standards and H&S.
• Be flexible to assist on other properties within the portfolio.
• Carry out duties per company policies and procedures.
• Complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time.
• Work safely and in a diligent manner.
• Comply with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Undertake additional duties within capabilities as required.

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Premises Officer to join our FM Segment of the business and to join our University of Chester team, covering sites and campuses in Chester and surrounding areas. Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, you will be expected to take full responsibility for the building maintenance and work closely with the Site Supervisor and Helpdesk. As part of this role, you will be required to work flexible hours and complete a variety of tasks related to this role to ensure the continued smooth operation of the FM business.

Making Possible

• Carry out Reactive and emergency breakdown tasks and complete the associated paperwork.
• Be on a call out rota to provide the client with full out of hours cover.
• Assisting other team members when required or as directed from the Contracts Manager.
• Ensure that all tasks are completed within the contractual time scales.
• Proactively reduce energy consumption on site.
• Overseeing visiting sub-contractors with regards to standard of work and Health and Safety.
• Adopt a flexible attitude in relation to assisting on other properties within the portfolio.
• Carry out all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Understand and complete all work related documentation accurately and on time.
• Carry out work in a safe and diligent manner.

What do you bring to the role?

• Ideally looking for someone with a trade based City & Guilds qualification Level II/III or equivalent.
• Experience of building fabric maintenance, both with commercial and domestic buildings.
• Experience of working within a mobile service delivery contract.
• An understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLA's), service targets and objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
• Strong customer care focus.
• Good communication skills.
• Proactive approach.
• Able to anticipate and/or diagnose and repair faults.
• Capable of completing essential paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Full UK Drivers licence.
