Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a reliable Premises Manager for a specialist SEN school in Croydon, CR0, for an immediate start. This full-time, long-term temporary role offers potential to become permanent in the future.

You will oversee day-to-day maintenance, security and site operations, handle opening/closing and alarm systems, and manage external contractors while ensuring safety and compliance. DBS checks and safeguarding awareness are required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day maintenance, security and management of the school premises.
• Open and lock the school site, including keyholding and alarm systems.
• Carry out general DIY, repairs and maintenance (plumbing, painting, basic carpentry).
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations; fire alarm checks and emergency lighting inspections.

Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start Date: ASAP - Immediate Start

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Contract: Long-term temporary, with potential to become permanent

Long Term Futures is recruiting a reliable, proactive and experienced Premises Manager to join a specialist SEN school in Croydon, CR0, for an immediate start.

About the Role

• Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, security and management of the school premises
• Take responsibility for opening and locking the school site, including keyholding and alarm systems
• Carry out general DIY, repairs and maintenance, including minor plumbing, painting, decorating and basic carpentry
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues
• Ensure the school complies with relevant health and safety regulations
• Carry out and maintain fire alarm checks, emergency lighting inspections and routine safety testing, as appropriate to training and responsibilities
• Manage external contractors, maintenance providers and scheduled works
• Assist with furniture movement, room preparation and general site organisation

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Previous experience as a School Premises Manager, Site Manager, Caretaker or Facilities Manager
• Strong practical DIY and general maintenance skills
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements, ideally within a school or educational setting
• Knowledge of fire safety procedures, risk assessments and site compliance
• Reliable and comfortable undertaking keyholding, opening and closing responsibilities
• Understanding of safeguarding and maintaining safe environments for vulnerable pupils
• Experience working in a specialist SEN school or similar setting would be advantageous
