Long Term Futures is recruiting a reliable, proactive Premises Manager to oversee day-to-day maintenance, security and safety of a specialist SEN school in Croydon, CR0. This full-time role starts in November 2026 and requires opening/closing duties, managing alarms and access, and ensuring a safe school environment.

Ideal candidates bring experience as School Premises Manager, Caretaker or Facilities Officer, with strong DIY skills and a solid understanding of health and safety.

Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start Date: November 2026

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (opening and closing responsibilities)

Long Term Futures is recruiting a reliable, proactive and hands-on Premises Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance, security and safety of a specialist SEN school in Croydon, CR0.

Starting in November 2026, this full-time position is ideal for an experienced School Caretaker, Site Manager or Premises Officer who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment.

About the Role

• Opening and locking the school premises each day, ensuring the site is secure


• Managing keys, alarms, access points and general site security


• Carrying out routine DIY jobs, minor repairs and general maintenance


• Completing daily site inspections and identifying potential hazards


• Ensuring the school meets relevant health and safety regulations


• Conducting and recording routine fire alarm, emergency lighting and other required safety checks


• Supporting risk assessments and maintaining accurate compliance records


• Monitoring the condition of classrooms, corridors, toilets and outdoor areas


• Supervising external contractors and ensuring safe working practices


• Supporting cleaning, waste management and general site upkeep


• Responding promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Previous experience as a School Premises Manager, Site Manager, Caretaker or Facilities Officer


• Strong practical DIY and general maintenance skills


• Good understanding of health and safety procedures


• Confident carrying out minor repairs and identifying maintenance requirements


• Experience with school security, alarm systems and keyholding


• Knowledge of fire safety, risk assessments and premises compliance


• Flexible with working hours to accommodate school opening and closing


• Understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining a safe environment for vulnerable pupils
