Job summary

365 Recruit is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer for a busy construction project. You will carry out setting out for foundations, drainage, roads and utilities, and work closely with the Site Manager and subcontractors to deliver works in line with drawings and programme.

You will use Total Stations and GPS/GNSS, interpret drawings, check tolerances, undertake as-built surveys, maintain records, and support site teams while ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience as Setting Out Engineer on construction or civil projects.
• Competent with Total Station and GPS/GNSS surveying equipment.
• Strong understanding of drawings, levels, coordinates and tolerances.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• QA procedures and as-built documentation knowledge.
• Attention to detail and problem identification.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with the site team.
• HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• CSCS card required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out for foundations, drainage, roads, kerbs, utilities, and structural works.
• Establish site control points, datums and benchmarks.
• Use Total Stations and GPS/GNSS to complete setting-out.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Check dimensions, levels, coordinates and tolerances.
• Undertake as-built surveys and maintain records.
• Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
• Identify discrepancies between drawings and site conditions and raise queries.
• Liaise with Site Managers, Project Managers, designers and subcontractors.
• Assist with quality assurance, inspections and completion documentation.
• Ensure works follow approved drawings, specs and method statements.
• Maintain records of setting-out information.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with site health & safety requirements.
