Job summary

Fives in the United Kingdom is seeking a Parts Finisher to prepare and finish precision components in the machine shop. You will ensure parts meet drawings, specs and customer requirements before progressing in production.

You will deburr, clean and finish using hand tools, measure with basic inspection tools and report any quality issues. A strong emphasis on safety, teamwork and accuracy is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a precision engineering, manufacturing or machine-shop environment.
• Strong understanding of tolerances and surface finishes and why they matter.
• Excellent attention to detail with a quality-driven mindset.
• Commitment to health, safety and PPE procedures at all times.

Responsibilities

• Deburr, clean and finish precision-machined components using hand tools and abrasive materials.
• Remove burrs and machining marks without compromising critical dimensions or surface finishes.
• Prepare components for painting by masking surfaces and protecting threads and features.
• Clean components using ultrasonic methods and approved cleaning processes.
• Carry out bead blasting and blackening per work instructions.
• Visually and dimensionally inspect finished components against drawings and specs.
• Use verniers, micrometres, gauges and thread gauges as required.
• Identify and report any defects, damage or contamination to supervisors.
• Handle and protect components safely to avoid damage during finishing.
• Lift and position components using manual handling and cranes where trained.
• Perform other reasonable duties in the machine shop as required.
