Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Production Operative in Preston to join a precision engineering environment. The role focuses on hands-on finishing and inspection of precision components, using hand tools with care to meet quality standards.

Key duties include deburring, surface preparation, and visual inspection, with an emphasis on following established processes and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Monday–Thursday early finish Fridays.

• Experience using hand tools in a practical environment.
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to carry out precise work.

Responsibilities

• Dress, deburr and finish precision-engineered components using hand tools.
• Remove surface mismatches, burrs and sharp edges to achieve required finish.
• Visually inspect completed work and report defects or quality concerns.
• Handle components carefully to avoid damage and maintain quality.
• Follow work instructions, specifications and established processes.
• Use tools and equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workspace and follow health and safety procedures.
• Work collaboratively with production colleagues.
