Job summary

Rapid Recruit are looking for an experienced Manual Machinist for a Nelson-based role. Shift options include days (£16.62/hour) or nights (£23.27/hour). You will operate manual lathes and milling machines, produce components to drawings and ensure high quality standards.

Reading drawings, using measuring tools, and following health and safety procedures are essential. A time-served background is advantageous and you will join a small, skilled engineering team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Manual Machinist.
• Experience using manual milling machines and lathes.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Confident using measuring equipment.
• Good understanding of precision engineering and tight tolerances.
• Good attention to detail.
• Reliable and able to work well as part of a team.
• Time-served engineering background would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operating manual lathes, milling machines and other workshop machinery.
• Producing precision components to engineering drawings.
• Setting and adjusting machines as required.
• Working to tight tolerances and maintaining high quality standards.
• Carrying out first-off and in-process checks.
• Selecting the correct tooling and cutting equipment.
• Deburring and finishing components.
• Following health & safety and quality procedures.
• Keeping the work area clean and tidy.
• Working as part of a small, skilled engineering team.
