Job summary

Rapid Recruit in Nelson is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our client’s team as a programmer, setter and operator of CNC lathes. You will work to deadlines and uphold quality in line with company policy and customer expectations.

The role covers setting up Mazak, Doosan and Citizen machines, writing and proving programs, performing first-off inspections and maintaining high standards of workmanship. Flexible to support other factory areas as needed.

Qualifications

• Time-served and experience working with CNC lathes.
• Experience with Mazak, Doosan and/or Citizen machinery would be beneficial.
• Good problem-solving and practical skills.
• Methodical approach to machine setting.
• Good eye for quality and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated and able to manage workload effectively.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC Lathes using engineering drawings and existing programmes.
• Write and prove CNC programmes when required.
• Set up tooling and prepare machines for production.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspections, taking responsibility for the quality of your own work.
• Deburr components where possible.
• Run and manage more than one machine when required.
• Complete relevant production paperwork and shop floor records.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Plan ahead and prepare for the next job.
• Work as part of a team and contribute to improvements within the CNC section.
• Maintain good timekeeping and be flexible to support other areas of the factory when required.

Days: 8am – 4:3pm Monday to Thursday, 8am – 2pm Friday £16.62 per hour

Nights: 10pm – 7am Monday to Thursday £23.27 per hour
