Job summary

Omega Resource Group Blackburn is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to maintain and repair injection moulding tools in a modern, food-grade manufacturing environment. You will diagnose tooling issues on the shop floor and work with production teams to maximise uptime.

Work activities include using hot runner systems and precision machining on manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and surface grinders. An apprenticeship or traceable qualifications are preferred, with high attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Injection Moulding Toolmaker in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of injection mould tooling, repair, and maintenance techniques.
• Fully competent in manual machining disciplines including turning, milling, surface grinding, and universal grinding.
• Experience working with hot runner systems.
• Ability to fault-find and diagnose tooling issues on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repair, and modification of injection moulding tools.
• Diagnose and resolve tooling issues both within the toolroom and on the production floor.
• Work on hot runner systems and support production performance.
• Operate manual centre lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and universal grinding equipment.
• Conduct precision machining to maintain tooling to the highest quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement activities to enhance tool performance and reliability.
• Manage workload effectively and proactively undertake planned tooling activities during quieter production periods.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
