Job summary

Howden, a Baker Hughes company, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a precision manufacturing facility in Renfrew, UK. The role focuses on maintaining a range of CNC machine tools and related equipment to achieve high precision and reliability.

You will diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and drive continuous improvement in machine performance. Strong preventive maintenance, fault finding and proactive reliability work are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintaining precision machinery in a demanding manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
• Knowledge of CNC machine tools and precision machining concepts.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs and continuous improvement across CNC machine tools and equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems to minimise downtime.
• Support maintenance and optimisation of high-value manufacturing equipment including machining centres and balancing machines.
• Troubleshoot and repair spindle systems, servo drives, axis drives and machine control systems.
• Monitor machine condition and performance to improve reliability and OEE.
• Conduct root cause analysis on failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Perform inspections and alignment checks to maintain machining accuracy and product quality.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to ensure safe, efficient operation to required precision.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on maintenance best practice and reliability.
