Job summary

Williams F1 Team in the United Kingdom seeks a Metallic Machinist (Turner) to operate Fanuc controlled lathes and turn-mill machines, turning components for race car parts and external customers. Precision, first-off quality, and data accuracy are essential in this fast-paced workshop.

This night shift role runs Monday to Thursday, 18:15 to 04:45. You will log data, hand over shifts clearly, and collaborate with programmers to improve efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of setting and operating Fanuc controlled lathes and turn-mill tools.
• Ability to run multiple machines and plan ahead as standard practice.
• Good depth of machining knowledge, CNC and manual, in low-volume, high-precision environment.
• Programming manually and/or conversationally is advantageous.
• Knowledge of manufacturing metallic and non-metallic components from aircraft-grade metals and engineering plastics.
• Ideally, a recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in precision engineering (preferably F1).

Responsibilities

• Producing components efficiently to minimize lead times.
• Collaborating with Toolpath Programming to solve first-off machining problems and suggest improvements.
• Working with machinists and other areas to establish best practices.
• Inspecting first-off components thoroughly and ensuring consistent quality.
• Recording shop floor data using Data Collection Software.
• Handing over clearly between shifts, in writing and verbally.
• Logging job information in handover notebooks for smooth future demand.
