Job summary

Mane Contract Services is seeking an experienced Welder for a leading UK manufacturing business near Stockport. You will MIG weld aluminium to engineering drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) to produce high-quality assemblies for complex engineering projects.

You will read drawings, verify layouts, perform visual inspections, dress welds, and record work in production documents. The role emphasises safety, quality and productivity, with a time-served background (NVQ 3, City &

Qualifications

• Time-served Welder with NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent apprenticeship.
• Experience welding aluminium within heavy fabrication/manufacturing environments.
• Strong MIG welding experience; TIG/MAG desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Knowledge of BS EN ISO welding standards and quality requirements.
• Understanding of welding defects, quality inspection and safe working practices.
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• MIG weld aluminium assemblies to engineering drawings and WPS.
• Manufacture complex fabrications to tight dimensional tolerances.
• Carry out visual inspections and support quality/NDT requirements.
• Dress welds and remove defects using appropriate hand tools.
• Complete production documentation and accurately record work completed.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and work safely in line with HSE procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and support production targets.
