Bytes Software Services in the United Kingdom seeks a Pre-Sales Solution Architect – Cyber Security to lead scoping, shaping and preparation of Statements of Work for security services, with a focus on Assurance Testing and Penetration Testing.

You will partner with Account Managers, Sales Specialists and delivery resources across Threat & Exposure Management, Security Operations, Identity and Access Management, Data Centre and Cloud Security, Application Security/DevSecOps, AI Security, Data

Qualifications

  • Degree in CS, engineering or related field desirable, or equivalent experience.
  • Cyber security certifications desirable (e.g., MS, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto).
  • 2–5 years in technical cyber security, solution architecture or security consulting.
  • Awareness of integration-friendly security solutions.
  • Experience leading discovery and scoping sessions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Awareness of UK/EU regulatory frameworks applicable to security.
  • Understanding of security operating models and SIEM/SOC concepts desirable.
  • Knowledge of Pen testing, vulnerability management, CVE scoring and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Scope service requirements with internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate Statements of Work for Service Delivery.
  • Define scope, assumptions, prerequisites and deliverables clearly.
  • Support eligibility checks and pre-engagement validation.
  • Lead customer discovery sessions to understand requirements and outcomes.
  • Own opportunities and maintain stakeholder communication.
  • Apply cyber security experience to identify opportunities.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert and provide guidance.
  • Maintain awareness of market and customer fit for requirements.
  • Bridge between account teams, sales support and delivery resources.
  • Participate in pre-scoping calls; ensure objective success criteria.
  • Handover from pre-sales into delivery; ensure quality through to delivery.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into outcomes.
  • Maintain consistency and quality across all SOWs.
  • Audit-ready documentation aligned with funding expectations.
  • Improve templates and scoping guidance; drive efficiency.
  • Identify improvements in pre-sales practices and vendor roadmaps.
  • Keep knowledge of UK security market current; support sales enablement.
  • Engage in industry training and growth opportunities.

Job description

Salary: £42,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cyber Security or a related field is desirable, or equivalent industry experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Relevant industry certifications are desirable, such as recognised Cyber Security vendor certifications (Microsoft, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, etc.) and industry recognised Cyber Security certifications (Sec+, CEH, etc.).
  • 2-5 years in a Technical Cyber Security, solution architecture, or security consulting role is essential.
  • Awareness of non-focus security solutions that commonly integrate with or complement a typical organisations Security portfolio is desirable.
  • Experience leading customer discovery and scoping sessions is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Awareness of industry frameworks and regulations applicable to the UK and EU market is essential.
  • Understanding of security operating models, SIEM or SOC concepts is desirable.
  • Knowledge around Penetration Testing, Vulnerability Management, CVE scoring, Exposure and Risk Management is key to this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to scope service requirements and opportunities.
  • Prepare accurate, high quality Statements of Work for Service Delivery.
  • Ensure scope, assumptions, prerequisites and deliverables are clearly defined and accurate.
  • Support relevant eligibility checks and pre-engagement validation in line with processes.
  • Lead customer discovery sessions to understand security requirements, risks, objectives and desired outcomes.
  • Own service opportunities and maintain timely, appropriate communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply Cyber Security experience to identify suitable opportunities.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, providing informed guidance and opinions.
  • Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape, market awareness and suitability for customer requirements.
  • Act as the technical bridge between Account Teams, Sales Support teams, the Lead Pre Sales Architect – Cyber Security, and delivery teams.
  • Participate in customer pre-scoping calls to clarify requirements, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Support handover from pre sales into service delivery and remain accountable for opportunity quality through to customer approval and transition into delivery.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into solution outcomes.
  • Maintain consistency and quality across all SOWs.
  • Ensure documentation is audit-ready and aligned to vendor funding expectations and internal expectations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of templates and scoping guidance.
  • Proactively identify and support improvements in efficiency and working practices within the pre-sales function.
  • Maintain awareness of aligned vendor roadmaps and funding changes.
  • Ensure good knowledge of the Cyber Security market in the UK and more widely.
  • Support Sales enablement efforts internally and during vendor enablement sessions.
  • Undertake industry training and learning opportunities for further growth and development.

We are a Technical Pre-Sales team within our Services & Solutions department, and this role reports to our Lead Pre-Sales Architect – Cyber Security. The Pre-Sales Solution Architect – Cyber Security leads the scoping, shaping and preparation of Statements of Work for security services, with a particular focus on Assurance Testing and Penetration Testing, alongside broader Security pre-sales engagements. We work across a wide security landscape including Threat & Exposure Management, Security Operations and Governance, Identity and Access Management, Data Centre and Cloud Security, Application Security/DevSecOps, AI Security, Data Security and Network Security. This is a customer-facing role with ownership of scope quality, technical direction and governance for Security pre-sales activity, and it supports collaboration with Account Managers, Sales Specialists, Vendor Managers and delivery resources.
