Job summary

Wates Group in Birmingham is offering a Pre-Construction Management Trainee position designed to immerse you in the early phases of project delivery. You will work with Estimating, Commercial, Design and Operations teams to learn how bids are prepared, costed and submitted, while gaining practical experience on real opportunities.

You'll develop understanding of the project lifecycle, build relationships across the business and complete a technical manual and workshops as part of your

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) by September 2027.
• Two A-Levels at Grade D or above (or equivalent) by September 2027.
• A full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Pre-Construction team in preparing bids, proposals and tender submissions for new project opportunities.
• Assist in identifying client requirements and challenges to help develop bid strategies.
• Produce customer-focused content for bid submissions tailored to each client.
• Help coordinate input from teams to ensure bids are accurate, compliant and submitted on time.
• Create and maintain responsibility matrices, action trackers and programme schedules.
• Maintain document control systems with up-to-date case studies, project information and evidence.
• Support information gathering, research and content development for submissions and client meetings.
• Develop understanding of the project lifecycle from opportunity identification to delivery.
• Build relationships across the business to understand functions and their role in delivery.
• Expand knowledge of industry trends to support high-quality bid submissions.
