Job summary

Fawkes & Reece is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our Birmingham team on major industrial projects. You will own design management across schemes, coordinating with the project team, consultants, clients and supply chain to ensure design is buildable and delivered to the highest standards.

This is a fast-paced main contractor environment requiring someone who can challenge design early, lead with a commercially aware, solutions-focused approach and inspire teams through

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Strong industrial/logistics/manufacturing project experience.
• Solid understanding of design coordination, buildability and technical compliance.
• Confidence working with consultants, clients and specialist subcontractors.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead, influence and take ownership.
• Commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of design management across major projects, coordinating with the project team, consultants, clients and supply chain to ensure design is coordinated, buildable and delivered to the highest standards.
• Lead design from early stages, challenge design intelligently and operate in a fast-paced main contracting environment.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and subcontractors to resolve design issues and maintain programme
• Ensure design documentation complies with project requirements and regulatory standards.

We’re looking for an experienced Design Manager to join the Birmingham team, with a strong background in industrial, logistics, manufacturing or similarly complex construction environments.

You’ll take ownership of design management across major projects, working closely with the project team, consultants, clients and supply chain to ensure design is coordinated, buildable and delivered to the highest standards.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being involved from the early stages, can challenge design intelligently and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced main contracting environment.
