Job summary

National health service's Elm Tree Surgery in Thornaby seeks an experienced Operations Manager to run day-to-day practice operations, line-manage reception and admin staff, and drive service improvements for high-quality patient care.

You will lead workflow redesign, manage rotas and ensure QA and CQC readiness, while supporting IT systems and vaccination campaigns within a busy GP practice with over 20,000 list size.

Qualifications

• Essential management/operational experience.
• Experience in process improvement (designing, implementing, auditing, and refining workflows).
• Strong IT literacy and data management confidence.

Responsibilities

• Direct line management of reception and administrative staff, including appraisals and performance management.
• Manage daily rotas, sickness, and planned leave to ensure coverage and minimise patient wait times.
• Oversee QOF & vaccination logistics and campaigns.
• IT support and data quality, maintain website and communications with patients.
• Premises and equipment upkeep, health & safety compliance, and CQC readiness.
