Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with experience as a practice nurse.
• Postgraduate diploma or degree in Primary Care.
• Competent in immunisations, wound care, cervical cytology, venepuncture, and related nursing duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide flexible bank sessions to cover service demand, holidays, and sickness.
• Deliver core practice nursing duties and vaccinations.
• Collaborate with the GP team to support patient care and clinical governance.

Main duties of the job

Flexible banksessions to support service demand, including holiday and sickness cover andseasonal vaccinations. You will be expected to work independently andconfidently across a range of core practice nursing duties.

The practice nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas including

They willwork collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs ofpatients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurseleadership as required.

Experience

• Experience of working as a practice nurse

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse
• Post graduate diploma or degree (Primary Care)

Clinical knowledge and skills

• * Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
• * cervical cytology
• * Venepuncture
• * Chaperone procedure
• * Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
• * Immunisations (routine, childhood and travel)
• * Understanding the importance of evidence based practice
• * Broad knowledge of clinical governance
• * Ability to record accurate clinical notes
• * Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GPs
• * Understanding of infection prevention and control measures
• * Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
