Job description

An exciting vacancy has arisen at The Beeches Medical Practice Shrewsbury. We are looking for a part-time Practice Nurse to join our friendly team.

The role is to support the clinical and administrative teams to ensure nursing services are delivered effectively to the entire patient population, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team. The Practice Nurse will be responsible for clinical areas such as infection prevention and control, health promotion, wound management, cervical screening, immunisations, and actively supporting the practice management team in reviewing and delivering clinical policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

There may be occasional requirements to carry out other tasks depending on workload and staffing levels:

1. Support the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and adhere to the IPC policy.
2. Manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions to prevent adverse health effects.
3. Provide routine nursing care including cervical screening, injections, etc., in accordance with clinical evidence, NICE, and NSF guidelines.
4. Request and process pathology services and results.
5. Maintain accurate clinical records in compliance with legislation, ensuring effective use of read codes.
6. Ensure compliance with the practice chaperone policy.
7. Support the team in managing clinical emergencies.
8. Recognise, assess, and refer patients with mental health needs.
9. Implement vaccination programmes for adults and children.
10. liaise with external services to support vulnerable patients.
11. Support safeguarding matters in accordance with policies.

About us

The Beeches Medical Practice is a friendly four-partner practice located on the south side of Shrewsbury, providing care for approximately 7,100 people across a wide area. We operate two surgeries: Bayston Hill and Dorrington (dispensing).

Our team includes GP partners, an ANP, Practice Nurses, HCA/Phlebotomist, Practice Manager, Operations Manager, Dispensary Manager, Care Coordinator, and a team of administrative staff. We are a training practice involved in medical education and use EMIS Web, Docman, and Teamnet systems.
