Job summary

Lordswood House Group Medical Practice is seeking an experienced Primary Care Nurse to join our busy GP surgery across three sites in Birmingham. You will support delivery of high-quality patient care and work with our Nursing Team, with primary care experience essential.

Cervical screening, chronic disease management, and baby immunisations are key areas. The post requires UK registration (NMC) and a flexible approach to working across sites.

Qualifications

  • NMC registration as a nurse is essential.
  • Cervical screening, Chronic Disease Management, Baby Immunisations are required skills.
  • First level nurse with relevant nursing/health degree and UK registration.

Responsibilities

  • Support and develop the Practice nursing team in assessment, treatment, screening, health education and advice to patients.
  • Agree protocols and guidelines for nursing treatments, independently or with colleagues.
  • Work within patient group directions and use prescribing qualifications if applicable.
  • Identify, assess and diagnose patients with complex health needs across the Practice population.
  • Maintain stock and assist with quality and risk management.

We are looking for an experienced Primary Care Nurse, newly qualified and secondary care may apply with the understanding there will be further training required, thank you.

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive registered Nurse to join our team and to support the delivery of high-quality patient care within our busy GP surgery.

The successful candidate will be working across our 3 sites with our varied Nursing Team. Primary care experience is essential.

Main duties of the job

This will be a varied role including nursing clinics.

Providing an excellent patient service and patient relationship skills, excellent communication skills, a confident manner and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes of any applicants.

The Lordswood Group was formed in October 2008. We are a partnership of three local GP Practices covering the Harborne and Quinton areas of Birmingham with 25,000 patients. Our aim is to provide the highest possible standard of care in a convenient local setting. Lordswood Group is a member practice of Our Health Partnership.

Job responsibilities

Working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct, the post-holder will support and develop the Practice nursing team in the provision of assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice to patients.

The post-holder will agree protocols and guidelines to provide nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners.

The post-holder will have the required level of training and competence and will work within patient group directions where these are available. A nurse with prescribing qualifications will use them appropriately.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Identify, assess and diagnose patients with complex health needs across the Practice population.
  • Work with others to change policies to improve health and well-being and reduce inequalities.
  • Assist with the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice to improve the services offered by the Practice nursing team.
  • Assist with management of Chronic Diseases, wound care, health screening, travel health, health screening, immunisations (Adult and Child), Cytology.
  • Stock maintenance and ordering.
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
