Job summary

Upper Gordon Road Surgery is seeking a motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly multidisciplinary team in Surrey Heath. You will deliver high standards of nursing care, support chronic disease management and promote health and wellbeing within the local community.

Applicants should hold current UK NMC registration, have up-to-date immunisation and cervical screening training, and be confident in wound care, injections, and health promotion activities. Experience in primary care is desirable.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (C+ or above) including English and Maths, or equivalent.
  • NMC registration is required.
  • Up-to-date training in immunisation and cervical screening.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high standards of nursing care within the practice setting.
  • Undertake chronic disease management (asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension).
  • Carry out cervical cytology (smears) in line with national screening programmes.
  • Administer immunisations and vaccinations (including childhood and travel).
  • Perform wound care and dressings, and suture removal.
  • Health promotion and lifestyle advice clinics (smoking cessation, weight management).
  • Carry out NHS health checks and screening programmes.
  • Assist in infection prevention and control and maintain clinical standards.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in line with NHS policies.
  • Support GPs and the multidisciplinary team in delivering patient care.
  • Participate in audits and quality improvement.
  • Ensure safe management of vaccines and equipment.
  • Contribute to safeguarding for adults and children.

Job summary

Upper Gordon Road Surgery is seeking a motivated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting chronic disease management, and promoting health and wellbeing within our local community and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver high standards of nursing care to patients within the practice setting
  • Undertake chronic disease management including asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension reviews
  • Carry out cervical cytology (smears) in line with national screening programmes
  • Administer immunisations and vaccinations (including childhood and travel vaccines)
  • Perform wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures
  • Conduct health promotion and lifestyle advice clinics (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management)
  • Carry out NHS health checks and screening programmes
  • Assist in infection prevention and control, including maintaining clinical standards and audit processes
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in accordance with NHS and practice policies
  • Support GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering patient care
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and practice meetings
  • Ensure safe management of clinical stock, vaccines, and equipment
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes for vulnerable adults and children

  • Previous experience working as a practice nurse in primary care

  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal
