Job summary

Frontier Economics is looking for a Practice Manager to join the Transport & Water practice. You will help shape operations, support planning, and drive the practice strategy, working with Practice Directors and senior economists to ensure efficiency and future readiness.

You will lead on financial reporting, workforce planning, and people management, while coordinating development initiatives and process improvements across the practice.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to consult and influence internal teams and stakeholders at a professional level.
• A developmental mindset, committed to personal growth and learning and to supporting others to achieve their long‑term potential.
• High level of autonomy with demonstrated critical thinking skills and the ability to manage complex situations with minimal guidance.
• Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Previous people management experience, or demonstrable experience supporting and developing others.

Responsibilities

• Practice management and strategy: translate priorities into action, support business planning and identify operational improvements.
• Financial and management information: provide clear financial data, monitor finances and support decisions.
• People and workforce planning: work with HR and Resource Managers on recruitment, onboarding and wellbeing.
• People management: line manage staff, support performance and development.
• Learning and development: coordinate career development reviews and drive EDI priorities.
• Continuous improvement: lead process improvements and embed firm initiatives.
• Business development: support events, marketing activity and client feedback programs.
• Collaborate across Frontier and share best practices.
