WhittakerLane Medical Centre in Prestwich, near Manchester, invites applications for an experienced Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operational management of our busy GP surgery serving around 7,800 patients.

The role demands strong leadership, excellent organisation and a collaborative approach with partners and staff to maintain high patient care standards, governance, budgets and HR, while driving service improvements in line with NHS requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of employment law and HR processes.
• Understanding of CQC requirements and governance.
• Ability to analyse information and identify improvements.
• Confidence in decision-making in challenging situations.
• Collaborative approach with clinicians, staff and stakeholders.
• Commitment to delivering excellent patient care.

Responsibilities

• Providing strong leadership and management to the practice.
• Overseeing day-to-day running of the surgery and ensuring efficient systems.
• Working with the GP partners and clinical leads on strategic development.
• Managing staff recruitment, induction, appraisals and training.
• Maintaining HR, employment and workforce processes.
• Overseeing finances, budgets, income and expenditure.
• Ensuring contractual, regulatory and governance compliance.
• Leading on CQC compliance, governance, health & safety and information governance.
• Monitoring performance against NHS contractual requirements.
• Driving quality improvement initiatives and service development.
• Collaborating with the Primary Care Network and local partners.
• Ensuring effective communication with patients, staff and external organisations.
• Reviewing and improving practice policies and procedures.
• Embracing new technology and innovative ways of working.
• Managing complaints and significant operational issues professionally.
