Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking an Assistant Practitioner – Practice Education to support educational activities for the Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) workforce within Nursing, Midwifery and AHP services. The role focuses on improving work-based learning experiences and supporting training needs identified by Practice Education and Practice Development Teams.

Key duties include coordinating orientation, guiding HCSWs, delivering teaching sessions, and acting as a learning link for Practice

Qualifications

• Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health / education / social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.
• Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
• Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques and / or activities relevant to client group.
• Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skills.
• Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge and skills, gained through formal training, in relation to direct patient care in support of and supervised by a registered NMAHP practitioner, ensuring delivery of high quality of care.
• Delivers direct patient care with compassion, to a delegated clinical caseload of patients whose treatment follows a clear plan of care / clinical protocol.
• Obtains consent for interventions or investigations.
• Effectively monitors the patient’s condition, recognising and changes / deterioration in their physical or mental condition and liaises with the registered NMAHP practitioner in a timely manner to review and reassess care / treatment needs
