Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking an Assistant Practitioner – Practice Education to support learning and development for the Healthcare Support Worker workforce within Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health professions.

Working under the direction of Practice Development facilitators, you will help plan and deliver work-based education, support induction, and provide guidance to HCSWs to help them achieve competencies and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health / education / social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.
• Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
• Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques and / or activities relevant to client group.
• Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skills.
• Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge and skills, gained through formal training, in relation to direct patient care in support of and supervised by a registered NMAHP practitioner, ensuring delivery of high quality of care.
• Delivers direct patient care with compassion, to a delegated clinical caseload of patients whose treatment follows a clear plan of care / clinical protocol.
• Obtains consent for interventions or investigations.
• Effectively monitors the patient’s condition, recognising and changes / deterioration in their physical or mental condition and liaises with the registered NMAHP practitioner in a timely manner to review and reassess care / treatment needs.
