Job description

Part-Qualified Accountant - Central London | £competitive | Hybrid 2 days in the office

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part-Qualified Accountant to join the European Finance team of a well-known, fast-growing consumer business with an international footprint and a portfolio of much-loved household brands.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious accountant who would like to build their career within a sophisticated Group Finance environment, gaining broad exposure across financial control, reporting and accounting while working alongside an experienced team.

You'll join a collaborative Finance function supporting several Financial Controllers and the Head of Group Finance, giving you the opportunity to learn from experienced finance professionals and develop a broad understanding of how a complex international consumer business operates.

The role

Working as part of the team, you'll support the Financial Controllers and wider finance function across a variety of accounting and reporting activities.

Your responsibilities will include and you will be supported to grow into this role:

  • Supporting the Financial Controllers with month-end and year-end accounting.
  • Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
  • Supporting balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances.
  • Assisting with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Supporting the team with group accounting and consolidation activities.
  • Helping to review and analyse costs, including areas such as marketing and commercial expenditure.
  • Working with colleagues across different entities and functions within the Group.
  • Supporting the preparation of information for internal reporting and wider finance requirements.
  • Contributing to process improvements and helping the team find more efficient ways of working.
  • Taking on increasing responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.

The role will give you exposure to a broad range of finance activities rather than being restricted to one narrow area of accounting.

About you

We're looking for someone who is part-qualified and actively progressing towards a professional accounting qualification, with a genuine desire to continue developing their career.

You might currently be working as an Assistant Accountant, Management Accountant or similar and be looking for your next step into a broader Group Finance environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA status, or be actively studying towards qualification.
  • Good grounding in core accounting principles.
  • Experience of month-end accounting, journals and reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial information.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to understand the why, not just process the numbers.
  • A collaborative and approachable style.
  • The confidence to ask questions, learn from others and take ownership as your experience develops.
The opportunity

This is particularly well suited to someone who is ambitious but grounded - someone who wants to learn, build their technical capability and gradually take on more responsibility within a supportive team.

You'll work closely with several experienced Financial Controllers and the Head of Group Finance, giving you a fantastic opportunity to learn from people with different areas of expertise and gain insight into the wider commercial and operational side of a successful international consumer business.

The business operates in a highly recognisable FMCG/retail environment, with a strong consumer proposition and an international presence. It's an exciting time to join as the Group continues to evolve, improve its processes and look at opportunities for further growth.

Why consider it?
  • Join a well-known consumer brand with strong market recognition.
  • Broad exposure to financial control and reporting.
  • Work alongside an experienced team of Financial Controllers and senior Group Finance professionals.
  • Excellent opportunity to continue developing while studying towards your qualification.
  • Exposure to an international business and multiple entities.
  • Opportunity to contribute to process improvement and change, rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment.
  • Central London location with hybrid working.
  • Genuine opportunity to build a strong foundation for your future finance career.

If you're a part-qualified accountant looking for a role where you'll be supported, stretched and given the opportunity to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
