Supply Chain Corporation in Wakefield is seeking a Category Lead for the DHSC PPE Pandemic Preparedness programme. The role provides senior commercial leadership for the PPE category within the national stockpile, overseeing over £150m of public investment and shaping the strategy for readiness.

Hybrid role with 2 office days, required to collaborate with DHSC, NHS Supply Chain, and suppliers to deliver resilient, cost-effective PPE solutions and a fast-moving implementation plan.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in commercial, procurement, or category management leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of NHS and healthcare system."
• Proven track record delivering outcomes in high-value environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at executive level.
• Ability to operate in fast-paced, complex, ambiguous environments."
• Experience developing and implementing supply chain strategies and inventory management programmes."
• Experience in the public sector and/or highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the DHSC PPE category strategy.
• Ensure stockpile readiness while balancing cost, risk, and operations.
• Drive supply chain transformation, including stock rotation and reusable PPE solutions.
• Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance, and value for money.
• Provide expert commercial advice to senior stakeholders and ministers.
