Job summary

At Atlassian Williams F1 Team, a Design Engineer in the Power Unit Integration group will own integration projects from concept to production build, focusing on PU mounting, cooling, exhaust and energy store systems. You will work closely with power unit suppliers and multiple engineering teams to ensure optimal packaging and performance on track.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Marine or related engineering.
• Strong CAD skills; Siemens NX preferred.
• Experience in powertrain or engine installation.
• Understanding of cooling, fluid and thermal systems and their interaction with packaging.
• Collaborative, cross-functional teamwork in a high-performance environment.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of complete power unit integration projects from concept through to detail design, defining and supporting R&D, dyno and production build and test programmes.
• Produce conceptual and detailed designs for PU installation components and structures, including mounting, cooling, exhaust, fuel and energy store systems.
• Carry out supporting calculations for structural, thermal and functional analysis.
• Contribute to the mechanical, thermal and system interfaces between the power unit and the chassis.
• Build strong working relationships with our power unit supplier and external component suppliers.
• Take ownership of faults, carrying out thorough analysis and implementing timely rectification.
• Keep communication clear, concise and consistent across all teams.
• Work flexibly as part of the wider Powertrain design team, adapting to the demands of the racing calendar.
