Job summary

H9 Talent Solutions is recruiting a Power Systems Design Engineer for a renewable energy business delivering commercial and utility-scale solar projects. The role is based in Warrington with hybrid working and includes a £70,000 salary plus a car.

You’ll design HV/LV systems, manage grid connection submissions, and coordinate studies and equipment specifications from design through energisation, interacting with network operators and procurement teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven HV/LV design experience within power generation.
• Direct experience managing grid connections and working with DNOs.
• Solid understanding of G99/G100 requirements, UK grid requirements and ENA standards.
• Hands-on grid-study experience using ETAP or comparable modelling software.
• Experience producing and reviewing SLDs, protection philosophies and equipment specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop HV/LV system designs, Single Line Diagrams and electrical system architecture.
• Manage grid connection applications and technical submissions to DNOs.
• Review connection offers and resolve technical queries.
• Undertake and coordinate load-flow, fault-level, protection-coordination and power-quality studies.
• Specify transformers, switchgear, inverters, protection systems and metering.
• Support protection philosophies and relay settings.
• Provide technical input into procurement, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning and energisation.
• Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering.
