Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Power Press Setter Operator to join a manufacturing business. You will set and operate power presses (20-250 tonnes) and related machinery, ensuring components meet drawings and tolerances while maintaining safety and quality.

The role offers a structured training program with starting salary £31,625 per year, rising to £33,581 after completing training, and an early finish every Friday in a permanent, full-time position.

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years' experience setting and operating power presses within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with presses ranging from 20 to 250 tonnes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacture components to tight tolerances.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
• Good mechanical aptitude, including tooling changes and machine adjustments.
• Basic computer literacy.
• GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate power presses ranging from 20 to 250 tonnes.
• Manufacture high-quality components to engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
• Complete tool changes, adjustments and machine set-ups using the appropriate tooling, jigs and fixtures.
• Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring equipment.
• Ensure products are manufactured to specification and meet the required quality standards.
• Work closely with Production Coordinators and Engineers to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
• Follow production schedules and achieve daily output targets.
• Maintain accurate production and traceability documentation.
• Identify and report machine faults or production issues promptly.
• Support the training and development of colleagues where required.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and follow 5S principles.
• Work in accordance with all health and safety procedures.
