Job summary

Pertemps is recruiting for a Power Press Operator in the Birmingham area (Curdworth). This permanent role offers structured training and a clear pay progression from £29,670 during training to £31,625 once fully trained, with shift allowances.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in manufacturing or production
  • Experience operating power presses 20–250 tonnes
  • Experience inspecting manufactured components
  • Confidence using verniers, micrometers and gauges
  • Good understanding of manufacturing quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to work safely in a busy production environment

Responsibilities

  • Operate power presses and production machinery to manufacture components
  • Operate presses 20–250 tonnes and ensure quality per drawings
  • Complete first-off and in-process inspections
  • Use verniers, micrometers, gauges for measurement
  • Ensure components meet standards before progress
  • Monitor machine performance and report faults
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Engineers to maximise efficiency
  • Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets
  • Maintain production records and traceability
  • Support colleagues and maintain a 5S workplace
  • Perform manual-handling duties when required
  • Adhere to all quality and Health & Safety procedures

Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of an established and growing Birmingham manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a quality-focused production environment where your experience will be valued and you will have the support needed to develop further.

The Role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will operate power presses and associated production machinery to manufacture high-quality components in line with engineering and customer requirements.

  • Operating power presses ranging from 20 to 250 tonnes
  • Manufacturing components to engineering drawings and quality specifications
  • Completing first-off and in-process inspections
  • Using verniers, micrometers, gauges and other measuring equipment
  • Ensuring components meet the required standards before progressing
  • Monitoring machine performance throughout production
  • Reporting machine faults and production issues promptly
  • Working with Supervisors, Coordinators and Engineers to maximise efficiency
  • Following production schedules and achieving daily output targets
  • Completing production records and maintaining product traceability
  • Supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment
  • Maintaining a clean and organised workplace in line with 5S
  • Completing manual-handling duties when required
  • Following all quality and Health & Safety procedures
What We’re Looking For To be considered
  • At least two years’ experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Previous experience operating power presses between 20 and 250 tonnes
  • Experience inspecting manufactured components
  • Confidence using verniers, micrometers and gauges
  • A good understanding of manufacturing quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer literacy
  • The ability to work safely within a busy production environment

You will rotate weekly between:

Morning Shift - 7.5% allowance

Monday to Thursday: 6:00am-2:00pm

Friday: 6:00am-12:00pm

Afternoon Shift - 20% allowance

Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm-10:00pm

Friday: 12:00pm-6:00pm
