Job summary

West Midlands and Worcestershire Perm Hub in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Power Press Setter to join a busy manufacturing team. You will set and operate power presses (20–250 tonnes), adjust tooling, and manufacture components to engineering drawings with tight tolerances.

The role offers permanent, full-time employment with a rotating two-shift pattern. Training starts at £31,625 per annum with shift allowance and rises to £33,581 after successful training, plus ongoing development

Qualifications

A minimum of two years' experience setting and operating power presses within a manufacturing environment.
Experience working with presses ranging from 20 to 250 tonnes.
The ability to read engineering drawings and manufacture components to tight tolerances.
Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
Good mechanical aptitude, including tooling changes and machine adjustments.
Basic computer literacy.
GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English are desirable.

Responsibilities

Set and operate power presses 20–250 tonnes.
Manufacture components to engineering drawings and tolerances.
Perform tool changes and machine set-ups using tooling, jigs and fixtures.
Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring equipment.
Ensure products meet specification and quality standards.
Work with Production Coordinators and Engineers to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets.
Maintain production and traceability documentation.
Identify and report machine faults or production issues promptly.
Support training and development of colleagues.
Maintain 5S housekeeping and health and safety procedures.
Work in line with all health and safety procedures.
