Job Description:
Our client, a London-based commodities firm, is seeking a Power & Gas Regulatory Reporting Business Analyst. The role involves supporting a transformational change in the business, requiring an adaptable individual willing to handle a busy environment.
The role can be either contract or permanent!
Role Scope:
- Perform business analysis for Regulatory Reporting, including software solutions and implementation.
- Experience with regulatory reporting for physical power and gas commodities.
- Manage project lifecycle activities: requirements analysis, functional specifications, testing, and UAT support.
- Conduct data analysis to support business needs, such as lineage mapping.
- Handle transaction reporting regulations like REMIT, MiFID2, and EMIR.
- Review and analyze existing applications and processes for project alignment.
- Assist the Regulatory Reporting Manager with documentation and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with REMIT reporting requirements.
- Gather and document business requirements, collaborating with stakeholders.
- Create functional specifications for system changes.
- Perform root cause analysis for issues and recommend solutions.
- Test software changes to ensure they meet regulatory needs.
- Document data mappings for regulatory submissions.
- Lead workshops to resolve issues and develop solutions.
- Develop and structure UAT strategies, scripts, and obtain sign-offs.
- Support UAT processes across project phases.
Accountabilities:
- Deep knowledge of energy trading regulations like REMIT, EMIR, Dodd-Frank, and MiFID II.
- Review regulatory texts and industry guidance.
- Create Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) for sign-off.
- Perform data lineage analysis from source systems to reports.
- Identify and fix data quality issues in trade reporting.
- Work with compliance to adapt to regulatory changes.
- Understand the trade lifecycle, including trade capture, clearing, and settlement.
- Document requirements and facilitate testing/sign-offs.
- Deliver structured SLDC artifacts for stakeholders.
Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of transaction reporting across UK and EU, especially REMIT.
- Experience as a Business Analyst in regulatory change projects within commodities or finance.
- Understanding of the trade lifecycle, derivatives, and trading products.
- Ability to elicit requirements and create clear documentation.
- Experience working with IT teams and using SQL for data interaction.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with a positive attitude.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in commodity trading, energy, or metals, especially regulatory reporting aspects.
- Exposure to trading risk management systems like Openlink Endur.
- Experience with vendor or bespoke regulatory systems and trade repositories.
- Proficiency in MS Visio and PowerPoint.
- Experience in regulatory remediation projects.
