Job summary

SR2 | Socially Responsible Recruitment | Certified B Corporation in Reading is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Test & Validation Engineer. The role is on-site and permanent, focusing on characterising and benchmarking motor controllers/inverters for high-performance electric propulsion systems.

You’ll shape the test program from the ground up, decide what to test and how, and build the necessary rigs and automation using Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB or similar.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical measurement experience.
• Tested power electronics using oscilloscope/current probes/power measurement equipment.
• Experience with high-voltage/high-current systems.
• Built or automated test environments rather than just following existing plans.
• Experience with Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB or similar for test automation/data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Characterise inverters and motor controllers across operating ranges.
• Build and commission test rigs using lab instrumentation.
• Benchmark products against competitor hardware and derive recommendations.
• Develop automated testing and data acquisition.
• Expand testing into motors including dynamometer testing, torque/speed/efficiency mapping.
• Help establish the wider test facility as the business scales.
