Job Description

As a Power BI Dashboard Developer, you will be responsible for driving data-driven decisions within Chaucer by providing actionable insights and analysis. Your primary focus will be on improving the business intelligence infrastructure, developing advanced analytical models, and identifying key trends and opportunities to support strategic decision-making. You will collaborate with business users and cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data, create visualizations, and deliver data and reporting solutions that support business decisions and optimize processes.

Main Duties

  1. Understand how data informs business strategy and combine this understanding with data expertise to deliver new insights and incremental value.
  2. Create visually appealing and informative reports, dashboards, and presentations that effectively communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders.
  3. Regularly present findings to stakeholders, explaining the implications and potential impact on business strategies.
  4. Assist the business in understanding the use of data, which improves business decisions.
  5. Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that provide valuable information to stakeholders.
  6. Develop data models to support decision-making.
  7. Develop and implement analytical models and statistical techniques to uncover hidden patterns and predict future outcomes.
  8. Interpret and communicate data findings to non-technical stakeholders, translating data into actionable insights.
  9. Monitor and analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  10. Develop reports and visualizations to support decision-making.
  11. Research new ways to use data, identify areas for improving processes, and implement necessary solutions to optimize workflows.
  12. Participate in the selection and implementation of tools, software, and best practices to support strategic goals.
  13. Be an ambassador for Data & Analytics, advocate for the data strategy, data skills, and best practices.
  14. Promote data governance and ethical use of data, building trust with partners.
  15. Collaborate efficiently with different departments and business functions; proactively understand their data needs and provide insights.
  16. Maintain documentation of data processes, workflows, and assumptions made during analysis for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  17. Provide support for ad-hoc requests and projects, delivering solutions, insights, and analysis as needed.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence a broad range of individuals across various businesses and support functions.
  • Organizational and change management skills, attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize workload and work independently managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills; enjoy tackling difficult challenges and finding creative solutions.
  • Relevant experience in data analytics roles.
  • Ability to provide bespoke insights from data analysis and modeling results.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Python/R, and data visualization tools such as Tableau/Power BI.
  • Experience with dashboarding, visualizations, UX, and design best practices.
  • Experience with Tableau and/or Power BI, Snowflake Attacama, Fivetran, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies like Scrum/Kanban, sprint planning using JIRA, TFS, DevOps, or similar.
  • Experience with data quality monitoring, tooling selection, and deployment.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is a plus but not required.
