Job summary

4xtrahands in West Berkshire is seeking an experienced Poultry Manager to lead day-to-day operations on a growing, family‑run farm and egg packing business. You will manage the free‑range laying flock, monitor health and welfare, and maintain production records, while supporting the packing operation when required.

There is an opportunity to contribute to broader business development, with weekend alternation and accommodation available if needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in poultry management or commercial laying/free-range operations.
• Sound understanding of poultry husbandry, flock health and welfare.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily care and management of the free-range laying flock, ensuring welfare, health and performance.
• Monitor flock health, production, feed usage and environmental conditions.
• Maintain accurate farm and production records.
• Involvement with egg grading, packing and dispatch when needed.
• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs to machinery and equipment.
• Support general farm, building and site maintenance.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance and relevant assurance schemes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
