Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is seeking an experienced Midwife for Band 6 in our maternity ward at Royal Preston Hospital, Preston. The post is 30 hours per week with a mix of day and night shifts, offering pro‑rata pay and strong opportunities for professional development.

You will join a motivated team delivering high-quality postnatal care to women, birthing people and families, while maintaining patient safety and compassionate practice in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Barel of midwifery practice with current NMC registration.
• Mentorship qualification or willingness to pursue after 18 months.
• Demonstrates commitment to continuing education and professional development.
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in nursing/midwifery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and co-ordinate care in maternity ward with a focus on safety and quality.
• Support and supervise junior midwives and learners within the MDT.
• Maintain high standards of midwifery care aligned with local and national guidelines.
• Promote patient safety, effective communication, and compassionate care across the team.
