Job summary

Royal Mail in London is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels across your local area. You’ll drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, and build relationships with customers in all weather.

The role is 37 hours per week on a rotating schedule across seven days, including Sundays, with full training and a strong focus on safety and service.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence required.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently.

Location: West London Delivery Centre, NW10 7NZ

Job type: Permanent

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00 & 12:00/15:00 & 20:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sunday at Same Delivery Office. Rota for Sunday working will change per business needs with shifts timing as describe above.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
