Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Systems Engineer to advance our multi-region PostgreSQL platform, collaborating with DB and infra teams to evolve architecture and automation. You will scale PostgreSQL infrastructure, improve reliability, and contribute to database tooling and performance tuning.

You will build and operate production clusters, implement high-availability, DR strategies, and drive observability across services.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and maintaining large-scale PostgreSQL clusters.
• Proficient in IaC approaches using Terraform, Ansible, or Salt.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana.
• Scripting proficiency in Python and Bash for automation.
• Development exposure in Go, Ruby, or C/C++.
• Contributions to PostgreSQL or related open-source projects.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and manage production PostgreSQL clusters.
• Develop tooling for automation, monitoring and performance tuning.
• Implement high availability, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Work with Infrastructure and Applications teams to integrate database tools.
• Implement proactive observability to monitor database health.
• Optimize database performance, indexing strategies, and query tuning.
