Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Condensed Matter Physics

The Department of Physics is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Condensed Matter Physics.

Position Details

1. This is a fixed-term position for 2 years.
2. The post holder will join a research group focusing on the spin-resolved electronic structures of quantum materials, such as topological quantum materials and unconventional magnetic systems.
3. The role involves utilizing conventional and spatially resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with spin resolution.
4. The post holder will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including PhD and project students.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Applicants should possess (or be close to obtaining) a PhD/DPhil in condensed matter physics.
2. A strong background in angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and synchrotron radiation technology is required.
3. Experience with spin-resolved ARPES or setting up and maintaining ARPES spectrometers will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

1. Independently carrying out research projects, including operating a modern ARPES end station to measure the electronic structures of crystalline materials in Oxford and at external user facilities.
2. Processing and analyzing the resulting data.
3. Providing guidance to less experienced group members.
