An established industry player is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Condensed Matter Physics for a two-year fixed-term position. This exciting role involves conducting cutting-edge research on spin-resolved electronic structures of quantum materials, utilizing advanced techniques like angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The successful candidate will also mentor less experienced researchers, contributing to a collaborative and innovative research environment. If you are passionate about quantum materials and have the expertise in ARPES, this opportunity is perfect for you to make significant contributions to the field.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Condensed Matter Physics.
This post is fixed term for 2 years
The post holder will be a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research on the spin-resolved electronic structures of quantum materials, such as topological quantum materials and unconventional magnetic systems, making use of conventional and spatially resolved angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy with spin resolution. The post holder provides guidance to less experienced members of the research group, such as PhD and project students.
Applicants should possess (or be close to obtaining) a PhD/DPhil degree in condensed matter physics and a strong background in angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and synchrotron radiation technology.
Prior experience on spin-resolved ARPES or previous experience in setting up and maintain the operation of ARPES spectrometers will be an advantage.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate the capability of independently carrying out research projects, including operating a modern ARPES end station for the measurement of the electronics structures of crystalline materials in Oxford and external user facility, and processing the data therefore resulted.
